Great place. Excellent staff, very friendly! The steak was amazing! I love the pepper seasoning! My husband and I both ordered medium rare and both steaks were cooked perfectly!!! The lamb fries are so delicious! We just got a half order, I really wish we would have ordered the full order!

Best steak in town bar none. Great meat balls. Matter of fact great everything. I eat here once a week at least, and it's by far my favorite place. Steak and meatballs and raviolis here are amazing. Keep up the good work GiaComo's

One of the family style restaurants that McAlester and Krebs is famous for. One of the beat ribeye steaks that you will ever eat!

Ok this is not your everyday place to eat, its a little pricesy.
and has an old style look and feel about it, you will be seated at a table with linen table clothes & napkins,I always feel special when I am seated with linen on the table. and the service is very good very helpful and friendly.
the food is service family style and there is a lot of it.
our servicer told us people come for the steaks, that was a pleasance surprise. now I have to say I don't eat steak out much at all, I like to cook my own on the grill and I am very picky about my steak..ah there steak was almost as good as home it was tender & tasty and it came with a salad, hot garlic bread, a relish dish, spaghetti, homemade meatballs & ravioli covered with Gia Como's homemade sauce. and it was all serviced family style way to much food for two,so guess what we had for lunch today? and it was good left over & reheated.
for us it is a special occasion place, not an everyday or weekly place to eat it a little pricey, but I would love to go back it is SOooooo good.

The four stars is for the steak. Giacomo's has the best steak in McAlester. The interior is dated but that's part of what I like. It takes me back to when I was young. The lamb fries are also worth trying. My only dislike is the item's on the menu that you think of when you go to an Italian restaurant, the spaghet, the ravioli, etc.... It's not that great. It's not bad just not that great.

We ate here two weeks ago with a group of 12. Yes, it is outdated...but I go here for the food. The raviolis and marinara are the best around. I am not a meatball lover so the meatballs were just meatballs. The spaghetti and marinara are awesome. Those who had steaks loved them, those who had lamb fries loved them (they are thin and crispy the way I like them), veal parmesan was good...but the chicken parmesan was not as good as it normally is (this has always been my favorite). Our service was okay. I have been eating here for 40 yrs and you can't beat their raviolis. Pete's is terrible (they outsource their raviolis and no telling what else) so don't waste your time or money there. The Giacomo steaks have the best seasoning around...but I like to eat Italian at an Italian restaurant. For those who would like more cheese and pepper as an appetizer...just ask for more.

They have the best Steak, Lamb Fries, & Meatballs in town. The rude comments about the appearance must be from people who aren't local. I love the fact this place hasn't changed much since I went there as a kid. The staff is always friendly and the food is always consistently good.

I read some of these reviews and just shake my head. Been eating here for 30 years. ALWAYS have a great meal. I guess some people are just looking to find fault. I've been looking for 30 years still haven't found one.

Wonderful McAlester tradition! My favorite is the chicken florentine, though the ribeye steaks and lamb fries are family favorites too! The mid century decor has a vintage flair that reminds you to stop and enjoy unique atmospheres and time honored traditions. My husband and I hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner at Giacomo's restaurant 35 years ago, and we love that it is just as special today as it was back then!

I lived in McAlester in 2007 and we went to this place once a week as there aren't too many other options in the town. I had almost everything on the menu at least once except the Lamb Fries.

A lot of the comments on here about the restaurant refer to it's decor and they are correct in that the decor is atrocious. Absolutely hideous and outdated. That being said, I don't go to a restaurant to eat the decor. I also don't live in a fantasy world where I think San Francisco has the only authentic Italian on the planet. McAlester was largely settled by the Italians and therefore has a very intense Italian presence. I believe they will know Italian food better than China-Town in San Fran. On Yelp, i've noticed that many Californians live under the illusion that they have it all and everyone else are just disgraceful amateurs. That's their loss.

GiaComo's has some great, fresh food that I enjoyed thoroughly. It's true that the relish dish doesn't come with an entire block of cheese like some expected, but it's simply to taste a few items before your salads and other entrees arrive. Their dressing is delicious and has a very tart flavor and is a shade of red. I enjoyed it very much and my only critique was that they used too much.

The spaghetti, and Ravioli's were very good and I had no problem spending the money on them. I wasn't too impressed with the steak but that's okay because this is an Italian joint. My favorite dish here was the Chicken Parmegiana. The crust on the chicken is crispy and the chicken is moist and flavorful.

Bottom Line: If you plan to eat wallpaper and mirrors, don't go to Giacomo's because they are old and probably stale. This isn't the Taj Mahal either. You can find that on another continent if that's what you're expecting. But if you want great, authentic italian cuisine in rural Oklahoma, check out GiaComo's and leave your pompous California friends across the street at Pizza Hut.
